The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation of a shooting that left a person dead in Franklin Township late Monday night.
According to authorities, the shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 500 block of Hamilton Street.
Police say officers responded to the neighborhood after they received reports of shots fired and upon their arrival, units found an unidentified person suffering bullet wounds at that location.
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later by medical professionals.
The motive for the shootings under investigation and no arrests have been reported at this time.
