Deadly Shooting in Newark's West Ward Prompts Homicide Task Force Investigation

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force is currently responding to a fatal shooting incident in Newark’s West Ward. 

Ad County officials said a male victim, found with bullet wounds, has been confirmed dead.

The incident transpired around 7:20 p.m. in the vicinity of the 200 block of 14th Avenue near South 14th Street, following reports of gunfire.

Upon their arrival, police discovered the victim and secured the area by taping off several blocks to facilitate an investigation.

As the suspect remains at large after fleeing the scene, authorities are intensifying their efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

The investigation, currently in its preliminary stages, aims to determine the motive behind the shooting, which is still unclear at this point.
