Deadly Shooting, Car Crash Investigated in Newark's South Ward

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a male victim in Newark's South Ward on Wednesday night.AdInitial reports from the scene indicate that the incident occurred around 10:45 p.m., following reports of a crash at the intersection of Hopkins Place and South 18th Street.

Upon arrival, police discovered the victim inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The area was quickly secured, and the unidentified male was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities suspect that the victim was shot before crashing the vehicle.

The Newark Emergency Services Unit was called to assist with the situation as part of the response efforts.AdThe investigation into the motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.

No arrests have been made, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation.
