Authorities in Morris County are investigating a fierce house fire in Pequannock that claimed the life of at least one person early Saturday morning.
The blaze broke out just before 2 a.m. in the teens block of Lyman Avenue. Firefighters rushed to the scene after multiple reports of a home engulfed in flames with possible occupants trapped inside.
When crews arrived, they confirmed at least one individual was trapped, but heavy fire conditions prevented them from making an immediate rescue.
Firefighters stretched as many as four lines in a strong effort to knock down the flames and enter the home.
As of 3:45 a.m., the fire had not yet been brought under control, and crews continued working to reach the victim.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
