The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office was notified of a crash that resulted in deadly injuries in Woodbridge Township Thursday night.
The late-evening collision happened around 9:45 p.m. near Route 1 and Gills Lane intersection.
Units arrived at the scene and found severely damaged vehicles, with one of the cars overturned.
Firefighters used special equipment to extricate one unconscious person trapped inside one of the cars.
At least one victim was pronounced dead, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
