Authorities are investigating a deadly crash that occurred early Friday morning in Burlington County following a police attempt to stop a vehicle.

According to information released by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, the incident happened around 4:38 a.m. on March 20 near the intersection of Route 73 and Lincoln Drive in the Marlton section of Evesham Township.
Preliminary findings indicate that an Evesham Township police officer, operating a marked patrol vehicle, attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop.
During the encounter, the civilian vehicle continued driving and ultimately collided with a second, uninvolved vehicle.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the police vehicle was not involved in the crash itself.
Officials have not released the identity of the deceased or the officer involved.
The investigation remains active, and no additional details have been made available.
