Authorities in Bergen County are investigating a deadly assault that claimed the life of a man in New Milford early Thursday morning.
According to preliminary information, police were called to the 500 block of River Road at approximately 3 a.m. after receiving reports of an injured person.
When officers arrived, they discovered a male victim suffering from severe injuries, including lacerations to the neck.
Despite immediate efforts, medical professionals pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sheriff’s Department responded to assist local police in the investigation.
Officials have not yet determined a motive for the attack, and the circumstances surrounding the violent incident remain unclear.
As of Thursday morning, no further details about the victim’s identity or potential suspects have been released.
The investigation is ongoing.
