Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to another hot summer morning as the heat wave continues into its second day.

At 72 degrees on Lyons Avenue in Newark’s South Ward early Tuesday, conditions are already warm, and forecasters say it will only get hotter as the day progresses.

Unlike Monday’s drier heat, today’s higher humidity levels will make the air feel even more stifling, pushing the “feels like” temperatures to uncomfortable levels.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will be sunny with a high near 92 degrees. Winds will remain calm before shifting south at 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 73.

Residents are urged to take precautions, stay hydrated, and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the peak afternoon hours as heat and humidity combine to create challenging conditions.
