It’s a beautiful but chilly fall morning across Newark and the North Jersey region as residents wake up to brisk temperatures on this New York City Marathon Sunday.

Good morning, New Jersey, it’s a cool 45 degrees at 4:30 a.m. outside Essex County College on Market Street in downtown Newark.

Light breezes are making it feel even colder, so a jacket is a must for anyone heading out early.
Across the region, temperatures are starting even lower: 37 degrees in Sparta, 41 in Morristown, 43 in Haledon, and 45 in Edison.

For the thousands of Garden State runners crossing into New York City to take part in today’s marathon, conditions will be cold to start but nearly ideal for the race, dry and comfortably cool.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 60 degrees.

Winds will remain calm through the morning before shifting west at around 6 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be partly cloudy with lows around 45.
Make it a great, and marathon-strong, Sunday, New Jersey!
