Crisp, Cool Start to Sunday as Worshippers Head to Churches Across Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My family and friends in Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a crisp, cool start this Sunday morning, with temperatures that will struggle to climb out of the 60 as the second half of the weekend gets underway.

As of 4:45 a.m., it was 46 degrees outside the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Clifton Avenue in Newark’s North Ward.

Early churchgoers and commuters are encouraged to bundle up, as brisk fall air and steady winds are keeping conditions on the chilly side.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be partly sunny with a high near 58 degrees and light north winds between 3 and 6 mph.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with temperatures dipping to around 40 degrees.

While the day will stay cool, residents can expect plenty of sunshine and dry conditions, perfect for a peaceful fall Sunday across the region.
