Crime Stopper Tip Leads to Arrest of Newark Burglary Suspect

Police in Newark arrested a man they said wasn't wanted for a burglary that occurred in Newark.

Police announced the arrest of Mr. Troy Chabrier, 57, of Newark, for a burglary that was reported to police on August 9th.

Police said at approximately 1:50 p.m., police responded to 200 block of Grafton Avenue on the report of a burglary.

The victim reported that the suspect stole jewelry and money from his residence before fleeing.

Detectives investigating other burglaries in the area developed sufficient evidence to identify Mr. Chabrier as a suspect in four additional burglaries, all in the Forest Hill Apartment Complex and one in the 400-block of Mount Prospect Avenue.

Police received a Crime Stopper Tip from a concerned citizen concerning Chabrier’s whereabouts.

Officers from the 2nd Precinct responded to the tip information and took Mr. Chabrier into custody yesterday (Friday) without incident.

Police charged him with Burglary, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Theft.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
