The Essex County Prosecutor's Office leads the investigation into a crash that caused life-threatening injuries in Irvington Township Thursday morning.
Authorities said just before 3 a.m., police Irvington Police were notified of a crash at the intersection of Lyons and Springfield avenues.
When officers arrived at this scene, they found that a Honda Accord and Volkswagen SUV collided head-on at a high rate of speed.
Police say the prosecutor's office was notified when at least one of the victims involved in the crash suffered severe injuries in the wreck.
The cause of the crash is under investigation at this time.
