An early morning crash that occurred on the eastbound side of Rt. 22 in Springfield sent several people to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash happened near the Friday's Restaurant at around 4:30 a.m. involved three vehicles and had about seven people taken to area hospitals with various injuries.
Police shut down a portion of the highway to remove the victims and their vehicles from the road. The highway was re-opened shortly before 5 a.m.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the crash.
