Authorities are investigating a Saturday night crash in East Orange that sent several firefighters and a civilian to the hospital, officials said.
The collision occurred shortly before 10 p.m. near the intersection of Freeway Drive East and South Walnut Street.
Emergency responders arrived to find East Orange Fire Department’s Rescue 1 vehicle involved in a crash with a civilian car.
According to initial reports, one person inside the car suffered a serious head injury and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Four firefighters were also taken to the hospital for observation, though none sustained severe injuries.
Officials said the civilian is expected to recover. The cause of the collision remains under active investigation by East Orange Police and Fire officials.
