Police reported non-life-threatening injuries for an NJIT officer during a crash in Newark's Central Ward on Tuesday night.
Officers attempted to pull over a vehicle near the intersection of Clifton Avenue and Orange Street for a motor vehicle violation shortly before 11:55 p.m. and revealed that the car was stolen.
According to preliminary reports, a second vehicle struck the marked patrol car during the stop, causing the officer to complain of pain.
EMS arrived at the scene for the officer for treatment and transport to the hospital.
The officer is expected to recover.
The incident is under investigation.
