A crash that happened in the city had two police officer transported to the hospital early this morning.
The multi-vehicle collision happened at the intersection of Springfield Avenue at South 12th Street shortly after 2 a.m. according to reports.
Rescue crews arrived to the scene where they found a vehicle had crashed into several vehicles including the police cruiser at that location.
EMS transported two Newark Police officers to University Hospital where their injuries were not reported to be life-threatening.
The driver of the vehicle that reportedly initiated the crash was detained by police.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
