Crash Causes Critical Injuries in Newark's Downtown

Authorities in Newark are investigating a violent crash that happened in the city's downtown early this morning.

First responders rushed to the area of Broad Street and Rector Street at around 3 a.m. for a reported crash with occupants possibly trapped at that location. Crews arrived to the scene where they began the process of extricating several heavily trapped occupants inside a crashed vehicle.

EMS transported at least one victim to University Hospital suffering life threatening injuries. About three other victims were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by Newark Police.
