Cranford Woman Who Drove Vehicle Into Rahway River Dies

Authorities have identified the 80-year-old Cranford woman who died after driving her vehicle into the Rahway River yesterday.

According to police, at around 11 a.m., Cranford police and rescue crews responded to the area to extricate the driver - Mary Sullivan - and her 90-year-old husband - Ed Sullivan - from the vehicle.

An initial investigation revealed that the Mary crossed through her neighbor's yard on Crescent Place before driving into the river.

Mary was transported to Overlook Hospital in Summit where she was pronounced dead.

Her husband was transported to University Hospital in Newark non-life threatening injuries.

The incident remains under investigation, according to police.
