Cranford House Fire Under Investigation


Firefighters in Union County battled a raging fire that ignited inside a home in Cranford on Thursday evening.

According to preliminary reports, firefighters were called to 48 Lenhome Drive after receiving several 911 calls reporting a fire inside a home with possible trapped occupants.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found the two-story home fully involved in flames.

Firefighters stretched several lines and began to battle the blaze as massive flames tore through the roof of the house, according to fire officials.

Crews were able to get inside the home to check for trapped and injured occupants, which came back negative.

With Cranford Police officers assisting firefighters stretched lines, the fire was brought under control in just under an hour with the cause under investigation.
