Maplewood authorities have confirmed that there were no immediate injuries reported in a shots fired incident that occurred during a home invasion burglary early Monday morning.
According to authorities, police received a frantic 911 call form a female who reported that two masked males gained entry into their home on Lombardy Place at approximately 3:13 a.m.
Police said the victim reported that two males dressed in all black and wearing mask threatened her and her fiancé at gunpoint asking them for money.
Officers responded to the scene and determined that entry was game through the bathroom window in the rear of the residence.
The male victim was able to take control over one of the handguns and reportedly shot off a round at the suspects who then fled out the rear of the residence.
Police say this information has not been confirmed at this time.
The actors fled through the rear of the property into the yards off Burnett Ave.
It is unknown if the suspects have been shot at this time.
All area hospitals have been advised to be on alert.
A vehicle believed to be driven by the suspects bearing fictitious NJ license plates was located in a parking lot nearby.
The suspect vehicle was towed back to MPD for further investigation.
The victim was checked by EMS but refused further medical attention.
Police say they believe the incident was targeted and are not certain if any proceeds were taken.
