Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a much-needed break from the heat, enjoying a cool and refreshing start to the day as the workweek wraps up.

After nearly five consecutive mornings of waking up to temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s, Friday brings a noticeable shift.
As of early morning, it’s a crisp 65 degrees in downtown Newark, offering a taste of fall after the intense heatwave that gripped the area for much of the week.
Light rain has been reported in parts of North Jersey, though it’s not enough to warrant an umbrella. The overall mood is one of relief and renewal, with residents welcoming the milder weather heading into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 73 degrees and an east wind around 10 mph.
Tonight, there’s a chance of showers, increasing in likelihood after 2 a.m., when a thunderstorm is also possible.
Overnight lows will hover around 67 degrees under cloudy skies.

After a challenging stretch of heat and humidity, Friday’s cooler air is a welcome change—and a perfect start to the weekend.
