After enduring a scorching Friday with temperatures soaring above 100 degrees in downtown Newark, residents across the city and the North Jersey region are waking up to much cooler and more comfortable conditions this Saturday morning.

At 6 a.m., temperatures in Newark’s West Ward hovered around 77 degrees, with refreshing breezes sweeping through areas of Littleton Avenue, and 13th Avenue.
Friday afternoon storms helped break the oppressive heat, ushering in a fresh and pleasant start to the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, the area can expect mostly sunny skies today, with a high near 86 degrees. Light northeast winds will shift to the southeast by the afternoon, keeping conditions enjoyable throughout the day.
Tonight, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m., but the rest of the evening is expected to remain mostly clear.

Enjoy your Saturday, New Jersey!
