Good morning, New Jersey, and happy Friday.

We’re waking up to a cool and brisk start to the end of the workweek, and you’ll likely want a light jacket as you head out the door this morning.

Temperatures in downtown Newark are hovering around 58 degrees, with some parts of North Jersey feeling even cooler.

While the air is crisp, conditions are expected to become quite pleasant as the day progresses.

If you’re heading to work, school, or out for an early morning walk, a jacket will be a good idea until the sunshine has a chance to warm things up.

Despite the cool start, today is shaping up to be a beautiful day across the Garden State.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 79 degrees. Northwest winds will range from 7 to 10 mph.

Tonight, skies will become mostly cloudy before gradually clearing toward daybreak. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 56 degrees, with west winds between 10 and 15 mph and gusts reaching as high as 28 mph.
