Cool, Rainy Sunday Settles Over Newark Area

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Good Sunday morning, New Jersey. We’re waking up to a noticeable shift in the weather as cooler air settles across the region, a sharp contrast from the summer-like warmth we experienced just days ago.

In Newark, temperatures are starting off around 48 degrees this morning, so if you’re heading out, especially to First Sunday service, you’ll want to grab that jacket or coat.

Rain is expected to move into the area around 10 a.m. and linger through much of the day. While it won’t be a complete washout, having an umbrella or poncho on hand will be a smart move.

According to the National Weather Service, showers are expected with patchy fog before 8 a.m.

Temperatures will hold steady near 50 degrees, with light winds becoming northwest at 11 to 16 mph.

Gusts could reach up to 29 mph. Rain chances are at 100%, with precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight, skies will begin to clear with temperatures dropping to around 41 degrees and lighter winds developing after midnight.

Stay warm, New Jersey, and have a great day.
