Cool, Damp Start to Sunday in Newark Before Humidity Builds

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

The second half of the weekend begins on a cool note across Newark and much of North Jersey, with a breezy 72 degrees downtown and spotty sprinkles in a few neighborhoods. E

Early churchgoers may want to bring a light jacket and an umbrella, although any early showers should be brief.

Temperatures will rise throughout the morning, and the day will feel more humid than it did on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are possible this morning, with showers likely and a chance of a thunderstorm after 11 a.m.

Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high of near 83°F, and a south wind of around 5–7 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%, with rainfall between 0.25" and 0.5" possible.

Sunday night brings a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., followed by partly cloudy conditions with a low of around 73°F.

Plan for a cooler, damp start and a stickier finish as humidity returns.

Have a great Sunday, NJ.
