Community Comes Together to Help Elizabeth Boy Struck by Train

Elizabeth

The community is invited to attend a benefit event today, Friday at a local lounge in efforts of raising funds for the family of an Elizabeth boy struck by a train earlier this year.

As many of you may remember, on May 11, 2017, Gregory, a 13-year-old boy from Elizabeth was struck by a train and lost part of his leg.

Gregory's family is now in need of help as a result of the mounting medical bills, expenses of relocating and costs of a prosthetic leg.

The family is hoping to relocate because they currently live in a 2nd-floor apartment which makes it very difficult for Gregory to come up and down the stairs. They also need to purchase a prosthetic leg for Gregory which unfortunately is not covered by their insurance.

A benefit to help raise funds for the family will be held today at Dolce Restaurant at 6:45 p.m. Each person attending is asked to donate a minimum of $25 per person at the door. This will include food and a beverage.

Anyone that can't attend may donate directly to the family. All checks should be made payable to the family directly, “Susie Raposo” and can be mailed to Hispanos Unidos at PO Box 785 Elizabeth, NJ 07207.

The family will be present that night at the benefit.
