Commercial Burglaries in Newark's North Ward Under Investigation

Newark

A set of commercial burglaries that happened in the city's North Ward has police searching for the suspects who are responsible.

Police responded to a deli located in the 300 block of Bloomfield Avenue at around 4 a.m. on reports of a burglary in progress.

First units arriving to the scene noticed a door busted open and the alarm sounding which suggested a burglary at that location.

Officer called in Newark's Emergency Services Unit to assist in search of the establishment that yielded no suspects inside.

Witnesses said a dark colored vehicle sped away from the scene shortly after snatching the cash register and other items from the business.

Police are trying to determine if the same suspect is responsible for a similar burglary that happened around the same time yesterday, just a few doors down at a restaurant.

A crime scene was established where detectives collected evidence and dusted for finger prints.
