A fatal head-on collision in Woodbridge Township late Tuesday night remains under active investigation, authorities announced.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Woodbridge Police Director Joseph Nisky, the crash occurred on February 18, 2026, at approximately 10:36 p.m. on Route 27 North near Deepa Auto Repair.
Responding officers from the Woodbridge Police Department arrived to find a 2013 Hyundai Tucson and a 2025 Nissan Altima involved in a head-on collision.
Authorities said the Hyundai Tucson was operated by a 28-year-old man from Iselin, while the Nissan Altima was driven by a 22-year-old woman from Colonia.
The front-seat passenger of the Altima, a 21-year-old woman from Colonia, and the driver of the Hyundai sustained serious injuries and were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
Officials said the Hyundai driver remains in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan Altima was transported to JFK University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
