Authorities in Monmouth County announced that a collision that resulted in the death of a male scooter rider in Wall Township is under investigation.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago stated that on Monday, May 25, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the Wall Township Police Department responded to the intersection of State Route 35 and Belmar Boulevard for a reported vehicle-versus-scooter crash.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a female driver was operating a 2024 Kia Seltos, traveling south in the right lane on State Route 35 South, when her vehicle struck an adult male operating a 2022 Buddy Kick 125 Scooter, who was attempting to turn left onto Route 35, MCPO officials say.
The collision propelled him onto the southern part of the roadway, MCPO officials said.
According to Monmouth County officials, the 47-year-old scooter rider was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 6:50 p.m. The driver remained on scene.
Monmouth County authorities stated that an investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Wall Township Police Department remains active and ongoing.
