Smith It’s a freezing midweek start across Newark and much of North Jersey as temperatures dip near or below freezing in several areas, giving residents an early preview of winter’s chill. Across North Jersey, the cold is even more biting: Lake Hopatcong and Montvale are at 27 degrees, Morristown 29, Somerset 30, and Edison 30 degrees. Commuters and early risers are urged to bundle up with coats, hats, and gloves as the frosty air settles in for the morning. A few light snow showers have been reported in higher elevations of Bergen and Passaic Counties, adding to the wintry feel.
