Cold Sunday Morning Across Newark as Temperatures Dip Near Freezing

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Good morning and happy Sunday, New Jersey!

We are waking up to a cold start across Newark and the North Jersey region, and what a drastic difference in temperatures compared to the last couple of days!

Even yesterday’s chilly weather felt almost like summer compared to what we are experiencing this morning.

If you’re heading out to first Sunday morning church services or getting an early start to your day, you’ll definitely want to grab that overcoat, warm jacket, hat, and maybe even a pair of gloves!

As we get started in our newsroom at 4:30 am , it’s currently 36 degrees in downtown Newark, but it feels more like 32 degrees. That’s right, Jersey, we are waking up to temperatures that feel right around freezing!

The good news is that despite this frigid start, we have a beautiful, sunny Sunday ahead.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain sunny today, with temperatures climbing to a high near 59 degrees. North winds will blow around 6 mph.

While we’ll warm up nicely compared to this morning, temperatures will struggle to reach the 60-degree mark, so keeping a jacket handy throughout the day is a good idea.

Tonight, expect clear skies with temperatures dropping to around 42 degrees and light north winds.

So, Jersey, enjoy this gorgeous Sunday sunshine, but don’t let those bright skies fool you! Fall is certainly making its presence known, and that winter coat might be getting its first real workout of the season.

Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday, New Jersey! Stay warm!
