Cold Start to the Workweek Across Newark, North Jersey Region

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We’re starting the workweek on a cold note in Newark and across the North Jersey region as residents wake up to frigid, below-freezing conditions.

Good Monday morning, New Jersey. It is currently 30 degrees at Market Street and University Avenue in downtown Newark as of 4:30 a.m.

While temperatures are slightly warmer than the past two mornings, a sign of a gradual warming trend that may push readings into the 50s later this week, we’re not there yet.

If you’re heading out early or waiting at the bus stop, be sure to bundle up. Expect cold air and occasional light breezes through the morning.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of snow between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high of 34 degrees, and calm winds will become southerly around 6 mph in the afternoon.

The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight, conditions remain mostly cloudy with temperatures holding around 32 degrees.

Winds will shift southerly around 6 mph before becoming calm later in the evening.

Have a great day, New Jersey.
