After a mild start to Sunday in Newark and across the North Jersey region, temperatures have dropped back below freezing to begin the new week, with wind chills making it feel more like the teens.
Happy Monday, New Jersey. If you’re heading out early, especially to the bus stop around 4:30 a.m., it is very cold outside.
Temperatures are near 26 degrees, with wind gusts around 20 mph, making it feel closer to 16 degrees.
Be sure to bundle up, as frigid conditions will persist through the day.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will remain sunny today with a high near 39 degrees. Wind chill values will range between 20 and 30 degrees, with west winds around 6 to 8 mph.
Tonight, snow is likely mainly after 4 a.m. Clouds will increase, with overnight lows around 32 degrees. Southwest winds will be near 6 mph.
The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with less than a half-inch of snow accumulation possible.
