Good morning and happy Friday, New Jersey. Temperatures are sitting around 42 degrees in downtown Newark as the day begins, so you’ll want a coat if you’re heading out early.

The good news is that conditions will improve steadily, and you’ll likely be shedding those layers by the afternoon.

Highs are expected to climb into the upper 60s, bringing a much more comfortable feel compared to yesterday.

With sunshine in the forecast, it’s shaping up to be a great day to step outside—maybe even enjoy lunch outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 67 degrees. Winds will start light out of the southwest before shifting south at around 5 to 9 mph later in the morning.

Tonight, clouds will increase with a slight chance of showers developing after midnight. Overnight temperatures will dip to around 50 degrees, with winds shifting west.
