Cold Morning Starts a Breezy but Pleasant Friday in Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

Newark and much of North Jersey are waking up to a cold start this Friday morning as temperatures dip near freezing in parts of the region.

Good morning, New Jersey, and happy Friday!

If you’re heading out early, make sure to grab a coat and maybe even a hat.

It’s currently 39 degrees along South Orange Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark’s West Ward, with light winds adding an extra chill to the air.

Further north, residents in Sussex and Morris counties are feeling the frost, with early temperatures dropping below 32 degrees in several spots.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be partly sunny with a high near 60 degrees.

Winds will pick up slightly through the morning, gusting as high as 30 mph, but the day will remain dry and comfortable overall.

Showers are expected to return tonight, mainly between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., as clouds move back in.

Temperatures will hold steady around 56 degrees overnight.

Make it a great day, New Jersey.

Stay warm this morning, and enjoy a calm close to the week!
