We are just below freezing in Newark, and parts of the North Jersey region are feeling like the teens as we move through this early Tuesday morning.

Good morning — it is 31 degrees at Chancellor Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark’s South Ward, and we’re expecting a slight warmup as the day progresses.

If you’re headed out to work, you will definitely need the layers, so bundle up, it will remain cold, and with the wind, it will feel much colder than what the thermometer shows.

According to the National Weather Service:

Today

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight

A 40 percent chance of rain, mainly before 4 a.m. Patchy dense fog before 2 a.m. Otherwise cloudy, with a low around 37. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph after midnight.

By Wednesday, temperatures are expected to climb into the 50s.

Have a great Tuesday, New Jersey.
