It’s a blustery start, and the wind is making it feel even colder than what’s showing on the thermometer.

Early commuters should bundle up with full winter gear.

Temperatures are sitting around 38 degrees near Central Avenue and South 12th Street in Newark, but the wind chill has it feeling closer to 33, giving the morning a sharp, frigid edge.

Skies are quiet, so we’re in for a dry day, but the cold is here to stay. Expect conditions that feel like the 20s and even teens at times as the wind continues to push through the area.

National Weather Service Forecast:

Today: Mostly sunny with a high near 34°F. Wind chills between 20–25°F. Northwest winds 15–20 mph, with gusts reaching 38 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a low around 24°F. Wind chills dipping to 15–20°F.
