In downtown Newark, it’s currently 54 degrees at 4:30 a.m. as we ease into what is expected to be a breezy and slightly unsettled Tuesday. According to the National Weather Service, today’s forecast includes mostly cloudy skies with a high near 67 degrees. While the morning will remain relatively calm, gusty winds are expected to develop this afternoon, with a southwest breeze shifting to the west at 17 to 22 mph—making it feel cooler at times. NWS forecasters say there is a chance of scattered showers between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., followed by a possibility of thunderstorms after 4 p.m. However, rainfall is expected to be hit-or-miss, with more areas staying dry than wet. Tonight, the chance of showers and thunderstorms continues before 8 p.m., followed by a slight chance of rain through 10 p.m. Skies will gradually clear, with overnight lows dipping to around 42 degrees.
