Closter Man Arrested After Alleged Assault in Palisades Park Home

A Bergen County man has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged assault at a residence in Palisades Park, according to information released by authorities.

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 49-year-old Shawn M. Lee of Closter on a charge of aggravated assault. 

The case was investigated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jeff Angermeyer, along with the Palisades Park Police Department, led by Chief George Beck.
 

Authorities said that on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at approximately 9:38 p.m., officers responded to a private residence in Palisades Park to investigate a 9-1-1 hang-up call. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that an assault had occurred earlier that day.

 

A joint investigation was launched, and detectives determined that Lee was involved in a physical altercation with an adult victim. 

During the dispute, authorities allege Lee placed both of his hands around the victim’s neck and jaw.

 

Following the investigation, Lee was taken into custody on Friday, April 17, 2026, by detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Closter.
 

The investigation remains ongoing. No additional information was immediately released.
