Clifton Recover Stolen Vehicle in Newark Neighborhood Using Onstar

Newark

Thieves staked out a Route 3 business complex until they targeted a vehicle in which they stole from the parking lot on Saturday night in Clifton.

According to preliminary reports, Clifton Police were called to the vicinity of Zinburger on Route 3 after they received reports of a vehicle theft that occurred before 9 p.m.

Several Clifton Police units arrived at the scene and began a search for a 2016 Chevy Malibu with a partial reported NJ license plate number "KLB" that was taken from the parking lot of the business complex.

Police were able to track the car -using Onstar- to the vicinity of 12th Street and 9th Avenue where officers made their way to the Newark neighborhood to search and recover the vehicle according to reports.

Units arrived in the area and observed about four suspects occupying the exact car where they began a short pursuit that ended in the suspects bailing from the Malibu, then entering an accomplice's vehicle that police believe was used as a getaway car at the Route 3 location.

The suspects remain at-large, but police did recover the stolen vehicle.
