Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Clifton Police Chief Thomas Rinaldi announce that at approximately 10:28 a.m. on today, Clifton police responded to the westbound side of Route 3 near the Bloomfield Avenue exit in the City of Clifton where a single vehicle had crashed.
According to police, a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, being operated by Mr. Anton Dittrich, 44, of Clifton veered onto the shoulder and made contact with the divider for approximately 100 yards before coming to rest.
Police say Mr. Dittrich was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:42 a.m.
The cause of death is unknown at this time. There were no other vehicles involved.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and ongoing.
