Clifton Man Indicted for 2020 Fire

Authorities in Passaic County announced  that Mr. Mario Palma-Sanchez, 26, of Clifton, has been indicted in relation to a series of fires that took place on March 30, 2020 in the City of Clifton.

A Passaic County Grand Jury has returned Indictment No. 21-05-00182-I, charging Mr. Palma-Sanchez with two counts of second degree Aggravated Arson for allegedly starting two fires that endangered residents at 148 and 122 Highland Avenue in Clifton.!

There were ultimately no injuries in either incident, but one family was displaced.

Officials said Mr. Palma-Sanchez will appear for an arraignment before a Superior Court Judge at a date to be determined.

The defendant is presently on pretrial release pending the disposition of this matter.

A criminal indictment is merely an accusation.

Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
