Clark Woman Dies after Choking During College Pancake Eating Contest

A Thursday night contest that involved pancake-eating at a college campus in Connecticut left a Clark, NJ woman dead according to authorities.

Caitlin Nelson, 20, was pronounced dead days after she was rushed to a hospital for a choking episode when witnesses reported seeing her eat as many as four pancakes during the contest held on the campus of Sacred Heart University.

Nelson reportedly fell to the floor and began to shake uncontrollably according to witnesses.

Emergency responders were able to get Nelson to spit out some pieces of food but were not successful in clearing her airway, authorities said.

The incident is being ruled a tragic accident at this time.

The investigation is still active.
