City and fire officials welcomed 10 new firefighters during a ceremony held at the City Hall Council Chambers this morning.
According to officials, several of the new recruits are bilingual, which increases the ability to interact and communicate with the diverse communities located throughout the municipality.
New recruits include: Gregory Borys, Vincenzo Soldano, David Fiorillo, Cesario Rebelo, Rafael Alvarez, Darnell, Woodarad, John Sacco, Miguel Sousa, Joseph Marranca and Peterson Paquiot.
The City of Elizabeth is the fourth largest municipality in the State of New Jersey with a population of approximately 125,000 residents.
With its close proximity to the entire tri-state area, the Elizabeth Fire Department responds to an array of calls, incidents and emergency issues.
Additional recruits strengthen and increase overall assistance to residents.
