Christmas Eve Snow in Newark, North Jersey Region Brings Festive Flurries, Travel Worries

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My family and friends in Newark are waking up to a brisk Christmas Eve morning, with temperatures just below freezing and a forecast that includes a light snowfall set to add a festive touch to the holiday preparations.Ad

According to the National Weather Service, the snow will begin falling around 7 a.m., potentially making the roads slippery.

While the snowfall isn't expected to be heavy enough to require extensive plowing, it will likely accumulate between a coating to an inch and a half, sufficient to blanket the city in a light, picturesque dusting.

This timing is critical for those making last-minute dashes for holiday shopping or commuting to work, as the snow could complicate travel.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution due to slick surfaces.

NWS meteorologists say the snow is predicted to cease around midday, clearing the skies but not the chill, as temperatures are expected to hover around 37 degrees during the day.

By Tuesday night, the weather will shift to partly cloudy skies, with the mercury dropping to a low of around 26 degrees.

Wind chill factors will make it feel even colder, with real-feel temperatures ranging between 20 and 30 degrees.Ad

As Newark enjoys the holiday scenery, residents are reminded to bundle up while traveling during this festive yet frosty Christmas Eve.
