There is an active homicide investigation underway in Paterson as detectives look into a shooting that killed a Chinese Food delivery man overnight.
It happened at approximately 1 a.m. in the vicinity of East 34th Street and 19th Avenue where several 911 calls notified of a car crash with injuries at that location.
Police arrived at the scene to find the vehicle crashed into a parked car and occupied by a male who suffered severe injuries after being shot according to preliminary reports.
EMS transported the unidentified male to St. Joseph’s Hospital where doctors listed him in grave condition.
Police say the driver of the vehicle was a delivery person for an area Chinese restaurant who was possibly involved in a robbery shortly before being shot by the suspect.
The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office will handle the investigation into who fatally shot the driver and why.
There were no arrests reported.
