Residents in Newark and the broader North Jersey region are waking up to temperatures below freezing, with some areas experiencing lows in the teens.NinosDespite the cold start, The National Weather Service said today promises milder weather conditions compared to the previous day.

The skies are clear this morning, setting the stage for a sunny day ahead.

The forecast for today shows mostly sunny skies with a high near 40 degrees. However, NWS forecasters say early morning wind chill values ranging between 20 and 30 degrees will add a brisk feel to the air.

Winds are expected to be light and variable, becoming east at around 5 to 7 mph as the morning progresses.

As night falls, the weather will shift to partly cloudy skies with a low temperature hovering around 30 degrees.

It’s a perfect day to enjoy the sun while staying bundled up. So, grab your coat and make the most of this bright but chilly day in the Newark and North Jersey region.
