Chilly Start, Rainy Finish Expected This Easter Sunday Across Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We are waking up to a chilly Easter Sunday morning across Newark and the North Jersey region, with rain pushing into the area that’s expected to arrive late this morning and continue into the evening hours.

Good morning and Happy Easter.

If you’re up early preparing for services at your house of worship, getting there sooner rather than later may be the best move.

Late morning and midday services could come with steady rain, so keeping an umbrella close will be important today.

Temperatures are starting off around 45 degrees in downtown Newark.

While readings are expected to climb into the mid-60s, so too will the chances for rain, with periods of heavier showers possible across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, today will bring rain and possibly a thunderstorm, with a high near 66 degrees.

Winds will shift from the south to the west in the afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 22 mph. The chance of precipitation sits at 100%, with rainfall totals between a quarter and half an inch possible.

As we move into the evening, conditions will begin to improve.

There is about a 30 percent chance of rain before 8 p.m., followed by gradual clearing overnight with temperatures dipping to around 41 degrees under northwest winds.

Have a safe and blessed Easter Sunday, New Jersey, and don’t forget that umbrella.
