Travelers heading out early for the Thanksgiving rush are waking up to a chilly but manageable start across Newark and the North Jersey region. 
Skies are mostly cloudy, conditions are dry for now, and a jacket or warm sweater is a smart choice, especially if you’re heading to the airport or catching a train.
Temperatures are sitting at 46 degrees near Newark Liberty International Airport, creating a brisk feel ahead of a wet afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to move in after 1 p.m., with highs reaching around 57 degrees.
Winds will remain light, shifting to the south at about 6 mph.
Forecasters say there is an 80 percent chance of rain, though any early afternoon totals should remain light.
Rain continues tonight, mainly before 1 a.m., with temperatures dipping toward 51 degrees before climbing back to the mid-50s overnight. 
South winds around 7 mph will accompany a near-certain 100 percent chance of precipitation.
