EMS transported a young child to the hospital this evening after he fell in a play area of a Newark Ironbound park.
Police were called to the Riverbank Park at around 6 p.m. to check on reports of an injured child according to officials.
Units arrived at the scene and requested EMS on a rushed after they found the boy bleeding from the head at that location.
According to witnesses, the boy was playing near the slides when he fell and struck his head.
Doctors treated the child who is expected to survive his injury.
The incident is under investigation.
